GIVE BIG TO PROTECT LOCAL PUBLIC MEDIA
Our work is about truth. We were founded with the idea that everyone should have free access to honest, fact-checked information — as well as stories that broaden conversations and deepen understanding of the world around us. We work every day in service of our mission to create and serve a more informed public, because we believe an informed public is essential to a thriving community, a vibrant democracy, and a better future.
Over 98% of KUOW's operating budget comes from community members and local businesses.
Public media is:
- investigative journalism that inspires change, uncovers meaningful connections, and enriches our perspectives
- explorations of the human condition and the natural world that feed our empathy, creativity, and curiosity
- moments of levity that charm and entertain, and familiar voices that comfort, enlighten, or even challenge us
Stations around the country provide all of this thanks to the financial partnership of listeners who understand why public media matters — and the importance of keeping it accessible to all.
Because of listeners like you who supported us in 2025, we successfully raised the funding to replace that initial year of lost funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. As we seek to ongoingly replace those funds, your support matters more than ever!
Strong public media means local reporters at city hall, in school board meetings, at the state legislature - bringing you information that impacts your daily life. Strong local news and strong communities go hand in hand. Your GiveBIG contribution today will take KUOW twice as far to benefit our communities.
