Journeymen Institute | Helping boys become wholehearted men of character, courage, and purpose.

Journeymen Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based on Vashon Island, Washington, serving boys, young men, and communities across the Pacific Northwest.

Our Vision: A world where every boy becomes a man of character, courage, and purpose.

Our Mission: To guide boys and young men to discover their gifts, find belonging in community, and contribute as leaders of positive change.

The Problem: A Lost Boys Crisis

Boys today are growing up in a confusing and contradictory world. Instead of a clear path to manhood, they're navigating isolation, addiction, emotional shutdown, and harmful messages about power and identity. The consequences are real:

  • Boys die by suicide at nearly 4x the rate of girls
  • 98% of mass shooters are male
  • A single disconnected boy can cost society over $3 million in lifetime losses

This isn't just a personal crisis. It's a societal one.

Our Solution: From Crisis to Compass

Journeymen guides boys forward through meaningful rites of passage and transformational community, offering:

  • Awareness — Developing inner clarity, social understanding, and future vision
  • Belonging — Multigenerational communities where boys feel seen, supported, and safe
  • Contribution — Real-world opportunities to lead, serve, and grow

Boys move from surviving to thriving. They gain mentors, build emotional strength, and earn respect through action, not dominance. This isn't an intervention. It's an initiation.

Our Values: I-CARE

Everything we do is grounded in five core values: Integrity, Curiosity, Accountability, Resilience, and Empathy, the foundation for better fathers, partners, coworkers, and neighbors. When boys thrive, everyone benefits.

One Village — A Journeymen Initiative Helping schools and communities grow character, courage, and purpose in their young people.

Vision: Every young person is loved, supported, and thriving — not because one program worked, but because the people and systems around them were able to work together.

One Village extends Journeymen's Village Model of mentorship, transformational experiences, and leadership in community to young people of all genders through schools, youth organizations, and community partnerships. We have equipped thousands of youth and educators with real-world skills to lead with kindness and confidence.

One Village partners with schools and organizations to:

  • Listen deeply to context and constraints
  • Co-design approaches that fit real systems
  • Equip adults with practical tools and shared language
  • Provide ongoing support that strengthens capacity over time

This approach allows the work to live within institutions led by the people already there, so that no single program carries all the weight.

Guiding Commitments: Belonging · Emotional Growth · Shared Leadership · Community Care · Equity and Inclusion
