Mission

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people in 40+ countries whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. Locally, the IRC in Seattle helps thousands of refugees, immigrants, and survivors of all forms of human trafficking in Washington state each year.

Description

The IRC in Washington is committed to creating a welcoming state for refugees, immigrants, and survivors of human trafficking. IRC case managers help newcomers immediately upon arrival by securing housing, helping people learn to navigate their new home and community, helping people find jobs, supporting newcomer students at school, and more.

In addition to the Seattle office, IRC WA has recently expanded to an office in Spokane, and has welcomed its first arrivals there, with many more on the way. This provides another excellent landing spot and welcoming community for refugees in Washington state. Please join us in welcoming Spokane to the IRC network. You can follow their office on Facebook at @IRCSpokane to learn more.

In addition to welcoming hundreds of newcomers to our state each year, we serve 2,500+ other community members through a broad range of services that help people achieve their goals. Whether that's advancing their careers, building new skills, managing health concerns, reuniting with family, or working toward U.S. citizenship, the IRC is here to help.

Over the past 6 months we have welcomed over 600 Afghans to the Puget Sound area. With great strength and resiliency these people are starting their lives anew here, and can use your help in developing new careers, getting educated, securing long-term housing, and more. In addition, we continue to welcome arrivals from other countries. Your support is essential.

IRC WA is proud to be a part of this community-wide day of giving and we appreciate all those supporting important causes they care about today. Thank you for continuing to help us create a more welcoming Washington in these challenging times.
