A Hearing Loss Diagnosis Doesn't Come with a Roadmap. That's Where We Come In.
A hearing loss diagnosis can leave you feeling depressed and bewildered. What's next? How do you take charge of your hearing loss, find ways to navigate your new world, and build your confidence back?
We've been there. We get it.
That's why we're here to help with support, information, advocacy, friendship and mentoring, and more.
Peer-to-Peer Support
Having a hearing loss can make you feel all alone. But talking with or just listening to other people with hearing loss or tinnitus can help you feel connected. Emotional support, friendship, and tools for living well await you in our online and in-person support groups.

You can find in-person support in Renton, Lacey, or in Northwest Washington.
Community Outreach
Raising awareness for hearing health and teaching communities how to be helpful to people with hearing loss is a key goal of HLAA-WA. Across our state, we bring messages of hope, up-to-date resources, and empowering information to communities and groups, small and large.
Communication Access: Building Hearing-Friendly Communities
People with hearing loss need to think about how they'll hear wherever they go. So we raise our voices for universal design practices and hearing-accessible communities for everyone.
Hearing loops, captions, accessible tech and practices in the workplace and in healthcare: We work with community leaders so that people with hearing loss can stay engaged and connected.
Connecting with Lawmakers: Legislative Advocacy
HLAA-WA successfully works with organizations and state and civic leaders to ensure people with hearing loss have equal access under the law.
This year, we helped get more open-caption shows in more movie theaters by supporting the John Waldo Act. Last year, we helped get two state laws passed expanding insurance coverage for hearing aids. This is community advocacy in action!
We are working for you and everyone in Washington State living with hearing loss—now and in the future. Together, we can do more to help every person in Washington State living with hearing loss live their best lives.
Being an all-volunteer organization, GiveBIG is our primary fundraising effort.
We never charge for any of our programs. We rely on people like YOU to help us make it all happen.
We Can't Do It Without You!
Join us in making a positive and lasting impact for the 1.5 million Washingtonians of all ages coping with hearing loss. By donating to HLAA-Washington, you are joining our extended community as a friend and ally.
For 35 years -- happy birthday to us! -- we've been here as a safe, welcoming space for hard-of-hearing people to find what they need. As a small-but-mighty, all-volunteer organization, we rely on our community to help us do what we do each day.
So that we can continue what we do this year and beyond, will you help us meet our $10,000 match goal this year?
