Creating a thriving hearing loss community
Hearing loss can be isolating. That's why we grow community.
Making just one hearing loss friend can change your life. What if you could make dozens of friends who understand what you're going through?
We're a volunteer-powered, nonprofit, heart-forward group of people who know what it's like to navigate life with hearing loss. We're growing a world where no one has to face hearing loss alone.
We're here for you online every month, always free
Our HOPE (Hearing Other People's Experiences) crew hosts a monthly meeting, and everyone is welcome.
These meetings are caringly facilitated to give members a compassionate space to ask hard questions, share feelings -- and victories! -- and learn about the latest in technologies and strategies.

You can also find in-person support in Renton, Lacey, or in Northwest Washington. And we have events throughout the year, like our annual picnic and our community day.
Planting seeds for new communities across Washington State
This year, we're reaching out to new groups and individuals who need help managing their hearing loss....
- Senior centers all across the state
- Senior living residents, including long-term care residents
- Underrepresented groups, such as communities of color
- Eastern Washington, including Spokane
Growing accessibility in venues and spaces
It's hard to join events, meetings, movies, and plays when you aren't sure how well you'll hear. So we help ensure venues and spaces have hearing loops, captions, microphones, and anything else people with hearing loss need in order to be included. Hearing-friendly neighborhoods help you make memories with friends and family.
Through our Loop Seattle program, we've ensured dozens of venues have hearing loops, which send clear sound directly to your hearing aid or CI. And we continue to educate everyone about ADA-mandated communication access.
Making government work for our communities
We are working in Olympia for you and everyone in Washington State living with hearing loss—now and in the future.
We helped get more open-caption shows in more movie theaters by supporting the John Waldo Act. With our partners and friends, we've improved insurance coverage for hearing aids and boosted consumer education.
There's more to do in 2027. We'd love your help!
When we come together, we grow together
Will you help our community thrive in 2026 and beyond? You can make a positive and lasting impact for the 1.5 million Washingtonians of all ages coping with hearing loss. By donating to HLAA-Washington, you join a group of people who really do think they can change the world.
We never charge for any of our programs. We rely on people like YOU to help us make everything happen.
So that we can continue what we do this year and beyond, will you honor us with a gift this year?
