Groundswell Northwest

Mission

Groundswell NW is an all-volunteer organization with the mission to "Empower NW Seattle to create, activate and care for parks, open space and habitat." We serve community groups in NW Seattle by providing mentorship, awarding microgrants, providing fiscal sponsorship, and advocating for parks, open space and habitat at the neighborhood and city level.

Description

The greater Northwest Seattle area is challenged with open space and is expected only to grow and gain density for years to come. For more than twenty five years, Groundswell NW has been guided by the vision that no child should have to cross a major street in order to get to a park or open space. Groundswell NW achieves this by empowering citizens to build and care for local parks and habitat and by serving as a voice for the community on city planning, land use decisions, and funding for parks, open space and habitat.
