Mission

GreenStage’s mission is to foster an appreciation of live theaterby eliminating financial and geographical barriers that impede access to the arts. We make high-quality theatrical productions of Shakespeare's plays freely accessible to all residents and visitors to Seattle and King County.

Description

GreenStage is Seattle's longest-operating Shakespeare company and has the rare distinction of having produced Shakespeare's entire canon. Our main season consists of full-length, full-cast Shakespeare productions, and our Backyard Bard series which is two abbreviated Shakespeare plays that are both performed by the same four actors. Both of our Shakespeare in the Park programs tour parks in and around Seattle. The season historically consists of around 60 performances at over 20 parks. GreenStage also hosts the annual Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival - a two day event that brings together several local theater companies for a weekend of free live outdoor theatre.

All of our programs are presented free to the public.

Free is the key; GreenStage is dedicated to making high-quality, professional theatrical experiences available and accessible to anyone who wishes to attend, regardless of ability to pay. Our main focus is Shakespeare and other classic plays, which we present during the summer in outdoor locations.
