Mission
The purpose of the Association is to promote the educational, recreational and social welfare of the inhabitants of Guemes Island, by maintaining and operating a meeting hall and associated facilities and properties.
Description
GICCA provides many community services to Guemes Island residents such arts, educational classes, community gatherings, festivals, and fitness classes. We recently launched the Guemes Island Arts Initiative https://guemesislandart.org/
GICCA has a full-service website, https://myguemes.org/, providing an island directory, an all-inclusive calendar, and many other resources for the community. A monthly emailed newsletter also provides human interest articles and important information to our subscribers.
We host meeting space for other local organizations and residents. The Community Hall also serves the community as an emergency shelter in the event of a disaster. The property includes a historical community hall, library, outdoor stage, and outdoor pavilion. GICCA provides display space for the Guemes Island Historical Society artifacts.
No officer receives direct or indirect payment. Volunteer donations of time and money have been critical to the success of GICCA.
