Mission

NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting the homes, health services and educational programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters"). Together, we help children overcome poverty and become leaders in their own communities.

Description

NPH Impact in Latin America and the Caribbean
NPH (Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos) supports more than 3,600 boys and girls across nine countries: Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Beyond residential care, NPH extends its reach into local communities, providing scholarships, meals, healthcare, and other essential services to an additional 3,900 children. In 2023 alone, more than 91,780 services were delivered through NPH’s community outreach programs, reflecting a strong commitment to improving lives across the region.

NPH USA is a global family uniquely bonded by love. Here are some of the ways we are unique:

Long term care for children:

At NPH, children are welcomed into a loving, supportive family environment that offers lifelong security and a deep sense of belonging. Each child receives direct physical, emotional, and spiritual support through a long-term commitment that nurtures their well-being.

Children who live in NPH homes—and those who live with their families while attending NPH schools—receive a high-quality education. They are empowered to pursue vocational training or a university degree, based on their interests and abilities. In return, many give back through a year or more of service, helping care for younger children and sharing the responsibility of building and maintaining their NPH family.

There is no set age at which young people must leave NPH. They are encouraged to stay as long as needed to feel fully prepared for independent life. Some may begin working after secondary school, while others continue their education through high school, vocational programs, or university.

More than 1,200 Children and adults living with a disability or special need receive care and support.

At NPH, every child is part of a family—for life.

NPH Homes:

NPH homes are located near cities, making services and supplies easily accessible. At the same time, they are relatively isolated and have extensive grounds. This provides our children with safety and security, which they may not have experienced before joining the NPH family. All of the NPH homes strive to be self-sustaining and have living spaces, kitchens and dining halls, chapels, clinics, schools, workshops where children can learn trades such as carpentry and welding, and farms/gardens to produce food for the children, staff and volunteers.

Community Outreach Programs:

All NPH homes support their local communities in a variety of meaningful ways. This includes providing scholarships for students attending both NPH and non-NPH schools, offering health and social services, and donating food and essential supplies. Whether responding to natural disasters, addressing local crises, or partnering with national child welfare agencies, protecting and supporting children and their families requires the combined efforts of NPH and our partner organizations. Together, we implement best care practices and tailor our services to meet the specific needs of each community, while respecting local laws, ethical guidelines, and cultural norms. By aligning international and local efforts, we are able to drive lasting, positive change in the communities we serve.
