Fall City Historical Society

A nonprofit organization

Mission

For community enrichment and public education, we collect, preserve and interpret the history of Fall City through photos, documents, artifacts and personal stories. We share and educate today and carry the past into our future, keeping the rich history of our small town alive.

Description

As a small unincorporated rural town with a unique history, including the earliest Post Office in the Snoqualmie Valley and the only extant hop-drying shed remaining in King County, there is community interest in preserving the documents, photographs and artifacts of our past and of the current period.  Our website (http://fallcityhistorical.org) tells about the organization and also allows online access to photos and other items from our collections. New materials are added each month to the website, with notice sent out to an email subscription list. A Historic Signs project was begun in 2016 and to date more than a dozen historic signs are in place, with historic photo and basic history, and QR link to a more detailed report.

Recognition

Having no paid staff, we are deeply indebted to the volunteers who serve on our Board and help with all the work we do. We are also grateful to King County Heritage 4Culture for project support and sustained support grants. And to King County Preservation for support in maintaining the Fall City Hop Shed, a designated landmark.
