Our Mission: Supporting farmers and caringly feeding our neighbors in need.

Our Strategy: Moving food where it’s needed. EastWest Food Rescue (EWFR) acquires or purchases surplus food predominantly from farmers and distributes it with empathy to people in-need. We support the farming community and work towards sustainable solutions for the food system.

Significant amounts of food go to waste every year because there is not a market for it at the price farmers need to harvest it. EWFR is decreasing food waste and supporting the growers’ ability to keep producing food. EWFR provides a backstop to farmers when they cannot sell their produce on the open market. We leverage this excess produce to meet the needs of the food insecure, primarily through non-traditional food agencies. These groups typically distribute via food drives and mobile food outreach to reach underserved groups, which are overwhelming BIPOC.
