Who We Empower

We believe everyone deserves to be treated with equity, to be included and to have choices. We help people with disabilities in King County access resources to lead successful and independent lives. We also advocate for policies and programs that ensure people with all types of disabilities have the same rights and opportunities. The people we empower are of all ages and backgrounds and have all types of disabilities, including physical, intellectual, sensory, neurological and other disabilities.

Our Community Impact

Disability Empowerment Center is a community-based organization led and run by people with disabilities. We are a crucial hub for individuals with disabilities to receive free individualized services and access community-based resources. We are also part of the national network of Independent Living Centers that provides services to people with disabilities in communities across the country. We are built on the independent living philosophy that believes people with disabilities should have the choice to live independently and thrive as important members of our community.
