$2,000 Goal

This year we have a goal of $2,000

Help us go bigger than ever on our spring production at the gorgeous 12th Ave Arts in Capitol Hill.

Mission

Founded in 2016, Dacha Theatre is a Seattle-based theater company that specializes in devised, immersive, and playful work.

We believe everyone has a story worth telling, and we strive to tell our stories with whomever we can. That is why our shows and events are always ticketed on a sliding scale, and have a pay-what-you-can option, so that no one ever has a financial barrier to coming and telling stories with us.

Description

Over 54% of our tickets from our hit immersive show, The Veil, were Pay-What-You-Can or reduced price, we are THRILLED to continue to give theatre goers the opportunity to experience art at the price they are able to afford.

This means the majority of our funding comes from fabulous donors like you! Thank you for being a part of our community and making our next show the best one yet.  We just closed our wildly successful run of The Veil, and cannot wait to share our next adventure with you.

Up Next: The Master and Margarita

The Russian classic by Mikhail Bulgakov, adapted and directed by Co-Artistic Director Mike Lion

The Devil went down to Moscow...1930’s Soviet era Moscow that is. The Master is missing. His novel about Pontius Pilate was rejected, and he himself has disappeared. To find her lover, Margarita must embark on a journey that will bring her into contact with a mysterious foreigner and his otherworldly crew. This gothic Soviet fairytale, full of magical realism, and satire of greed and corruption is a sometimes charming, sometimes bewildering, always hilarious ride through a strange, but all too recognizable world.

We are beyond thrilled for our first production at 12 Ave Arts. This popular venue at the heart of Capitol Hill is a central hub for the theater community, and we could not be more excited to join this thriving art space with our run of The Master and Margarita

Your donation today will have an immediate and lasting impact on hopeful, accessible, and ambitious theatre made in the Pacific Northwest!

*Every donation comes with a handwritten thank you post card! See next tab for all donor gifts.

Who We Are
A "dacha" is a Russian cottage, a retreat and a time apart, a place for family where the generations mingle. Our Dacha seeks out stories that strike a chord of familiarity in our audience and are full of movement, comedy, and audience interaction. We are constantly in pursuit of new ways to tell old stories and ways to make new stories resonate, whether it is through our original immersive shows, our innovative "Dice" takes on Shakespeare and classic texts, or our movement-driven stagings of new works. We are committed to creating a welcoming community at every level of our organization, from pay-what-you-can tickets for all events, to audition workshops to empower diverse storytellers of all backgrounds to work with us. Dacha Theatre is run by an eight-person producing staff and supported by a company of 37 artists and creators.

What We Do: Empowering Our Audiences
Audience interaction is a core part of Dacha's mission, and all of our shows are immersive or interactive in some form - whether our audiences are exploring a mansion in Burien while performing seances, a neighborhood park transformed into Neverland, playing an original board game on a custom-built digital platform, or interacting with Shakespearean clowns from their seats. We pride ourselves in making our immersive theater approachable and welcoming; our audiences always feel empowered as an important and necessary part of the story. Our passion for creating art and community extends beyond our stages - in addition to producing at least four shows a year, we offer ongoing events to bring our community closer together, including quarterly workshops for creators of all experience levels, and development labs for new works. All our shows and events are always ticketed on a sliding scale, and always include a pay-what-you-can option, ensuring that no one ever has a financial barrier to being a part of our work.
