Community Lunch on Capitol Hill provides hot meals and other essential services to those enduring homelessness and economic hardship. Our services are open to everyone in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Description

Community Lunch on Capitol, a 501(c)3 non-profit, has been providing hot meals for over 37 years. We serve a hot lunch Monday through Friday 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. We also operate a clothing bank with warm clothing, sock and shoes, sleeping bags and blankets and toiletries available to all. In addition, basic medical, outreach workers and other third-party resources are also regularly present at the meals. We collaborate with dozens of businesses to receive donations of food, other meal supplies, clothing, and toiletries.

2022 is off to a busy and challenging start. The number of folks attending the meals has jumped by almost 30%. We are now serving over 1,100 meals each week. The costs to support this dramatic increase are being driven even higher by significant inflation. For example, most paper products like cups, take-out containers and bags have doubled in price. In addition, our food rescue donations have decreased. This forces us to purchase items that are normally donated.
