Mission

We empower an intergenerational climate justice movement of youth, families, and friends, building collective power to protect the people and planet we love at the speed and scale of transformation that climate science and justice require. 

Description

Our organization is rooted in youth support and empowerment! 

The impacts of our changing climate have become undeniable, and now youth feel more pressure to lead and ensure their own safety while feeling abandoned by older generations. Young people did not create this situation and should not be expected to bear this burden at the expense of their mental health and time.

Intergenerational work brings the skills and resources of prior generations to the table, creates a more constant structure for building on successes, and shares cross-generational traditions and knowledge - ensuring that deep networks are leveraged and caring communities evolve within the movement. 

Climate Action Families brings together the best knowledge from mental health providers, educators, and community leaders to architect a safe and supportive community that collaborates to transform society. We have trained over 600 youth to become Climate Justice Ambassadors, and many have gone on to passionate careers with national and international impacts. 

We are a nexus of many communities of youth and families connecting to learn and provide support in a time of great change. Our aim is to grow our Seattle model into a nationwide network of youth and families who want to engage in climate justice work together. We are a resource for other groups working with youth. We help mentor rising leaders, offer network-wide training, and support new groups getting started. 

All funds raised during WaGives 2025 will support our work in Washington State.
