Clarion West

Clarion West supports emerging and underrepresented voices by providing writers with world-class instruction to empower their creation of wild and amazing worlds. Through conversation and public engagement, we bring those voices to an ever-expanding community.

Speculative fiction—science fiction, fantasy, horror, magic realism, and slipstream—gives voice to those who explore societal and technological change, along with deeper considerations of underlying archetypes of human experience. Through instructive programming such as our Six-Week and Novel-Writing Workshops, classes, and intensives, and our public events such as readings, panels, and the Deep Dives author conversation series, we serve the broader literary community in developing and engaging with works of imagination. Our belief in the power of art and imagination had led us to a partnership with CAM (Common Area Maintenance), an artist collective nonprofit organization on the rehabilitation of the El Rey building in Belltown where Clarion West will lead the development of an Artist Residency Program. We invite the community to join us in celebration of our ongoing partnership on Tuesday, May 5th, when Clarion West will present CAM with our $100,000 commitment! The event will be held at Common AREA Maintenance, located at 2125 2nd Avenue and festivities will begin at 5pm PT.
