What if it worked...but not for you? 

Working doesn’t always mean accessible.
 Help create a space that works for the people who use it.

Most of us barely notice when the objects and spaces around us work for us.  But when something wasn't designed with your needs in mind, you notice every time.

Picture this... 

A pair of shoes that only comes in one size. A coffee mug with the handle on the inside. Gloves with five identical fingers. A tiny umbrella in a downpour. A chair that's too tall to sit in.

Technically, they all work...but not for the person trying to use them.

The same can be true of the spaces around us. Chinook's current restrooms function, but they don't work equally well for everyone who uses our building. We're working to change that with renovations that will create more accessible spaces and better support safety, privacy, comfort, and independence.

Earlier this year, our community rallied behind this project and helped us raise $17,000. We're now just $8,000 away from reaching our $25,000 pre-construction goal.

Pre-construction may not be the most exciting part of a renovation, but it's what allows the work ahead to happen. These funds will help cover the planning, design, and other pre-construction work needed to keep the restroom accessibility project moving forward.

You can support accessibility and inclusion by helping Chinook Enterprises raise $8,000 for Giving Tuesday.

Your gift for Giving Tuesday will make a lasting impact on our mission to support 237 individuals annually and bring Chinook one step closer to restrooms designed around the needs of the people who use them.

Because something shouldn't just work. It should work for the people who need it.

You can participate in three ways: 

1. Make a small donation that will contribute to help Chinook invest in restroom accessibility renovations.
2. Share our donation page and include a brief story about why Chinook is important to you. 
3. Make a large enough donation to cover most or all of the cost of the project.

Meet Ani, who recently achieved a major employment goal by securing a position as an Inventory Specialist.  Since starting her new role, she's been thriving in the workplace and has quickly become a valued member of the team.  One of Ani's greatest strengths is the positive energy she brings wherever she goes.  She's warm, cheerful, and genuinely enjoys connecting with others.

Although she's enjoying success in her current role, Ani is interested in expanding her employment opportunities.  She currently works a few hours a week and is seeking an additional position where she can put her skills and experience to good use.

More Than Books: The Many Ways Allen Makes a Difference!

Allen is a bright, curious, and fun-loving young man with a special talent for making people feel welcome. Recently, Allen was hired as a Library Assistant at the Upper Skagit Library in Concrete, where he plays an important role in helping daily operations run smoothly. His responsibilities include collecting, scanning, and sorting returned books, as well as searching library shelves for books and DVDs that have been requested by other branches. With a strong attention to detail and a dependable work ethic, Allen helps ensure materials get where they need to go so library patrons throughout the Skagit Library system can access the resources they’re looking for.

One of Allen’s greatest strengths is his ability to connect with people. He warmly greets library guests and coworkers alike, and his friendly personality has made him a valued member of the team. Whether he is helping behind the scenes or interacting with visitors, Allen brings positivity and enthusiasm to his work each day.
