Cascadia Pipe Band

A nonprofit organization

Cascadia Pipe Band is Washington State’s only grade 2 competitive bagpipe band. Located in Seattle, we attract talent from the PNW and beyond while working tirelessly to bring excellence to the Scottish music scene and spread awareness of the Scottish arts.

We are a new band to the scene, having only been in existence for three years. As such, and because we are a not-for-profit organization, we must fundraise to purchase uniform parts, instrument supplies, and other pieces of equipment essential to creating a professional sound as a band. All donations will be greatly appreciated and go towards those items, plus administrative costs associated with running an orgnization such as this.

In September 2021, we began meeting as four friends at a bench outside of Shorecrest High School. After playing again after years, we realized how much we missed playing in a band and decided to continue meeting weekly. Playing practice chanters and learning tunes.

Soon our meetings grew into the early stages of Cascadia, with the aim of competing in grade three in the Summer. Huddled around a glass conference table, we fully utilized the printer and the Keurig machine.

After a successful debut season in grade three, Cascadia Pipe Band was promoted by BC Pipers to grade two for 2023. Cascadia continued on in 2023 to win grade two grand aggregate from BC Pipers.

Pipe Major Patrick Downing and Drum Sergeant Steven Wheeler encourage excellent playing and a continuous growth mindset.
