Description

Opening its doors in 2013, Auburn Valley Humane Society enriches the lives of companion animals and people through animal sheltering, programs, and community engagement. Auburn Valley Humane Society is much more than just a "dog pound." It's a community education and resource center where pets and people can come together for needed resources.

Auburn Valley Humane Society also promotes programs and services designed to promote animal welfare; address the reasons animals end up in shelters; find forever adoptive homes for the animals in our care; and help keep pets in their homes with the people who love them.

AVHS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that partners with the City of Auburn for the housing of the lost and stray animals within the City of Auburn and pet licensing. AVHS also serves King and Pierce Counties for owner relinquishment and adoptions. AVHS relies on philanthropy, donations, clinic spay/neuter and wellness services, Cat Cafe sales, Thrift Store sales, service contracts with the City of Auburn, and services provided to the community to fund shelter operations, clinic operations, humane education programs, and human/pet services. AVHS also operates a Thrift Store & More  and an AVHS Cat Cafe to provide additional revenue sources with the proceeds supporting the animals at the AVHS shelter and in the community in need.

AVHS provides a myriad of services from animal sheltering, adoptions, volunteer programs, income-qualified low-cost spay and neuter programs, pet wellness  & dentistry services, outreach programs, and human/pet services. The human/pet services include Senior Pet Pantry Food Bank, Shelter Buddies Reading program, Public Veterinary Medical Assistance Fund, Pets in Crisis, Pets without Me, as well as a Girl Scout Badge program.

AVHS merged with Northwest Spay and Neuter Center. As natural partners, the specialties of both AVHS and NWSNC will remain, allowing the communities served to benefit from a unified animal welfare organization promoting regional animal welfare through animal sheltering, programs, and expanded community engagement. NW Spay and Neuter Center provides spay/neuter surgeries as well as wellness & dentistry services. AVHS will do its best to provide the greatest care for those who need it most.
