AYDEPI is a youth-led, adult-guided nonprofit based in South King County, serving immigrant and underserved youth ages 10–25 across Washington State. AYDEPI is a nonprofit where youth hold approximately 70% of board and key decision-making roles, ensuring that young people are not only served but actively shape the programs, priorities, and direction of the organization.
We serve youth across Washington State, with a strong concentration in South King County, including communities such as Federal Way, Des Moines, Kent, Auburn, SeaTac, and Tukwila—areas where many immigrant families face barriers to culturally relevant support and opportunity.
We exist to close those gaps. Our programs address urgent challenges impacting youth today, including mental health disparities, substance misuse, violence, and social disconnection. Through culturally responsive, African-centered programming, we provide mentorship, leadership development, academic support, and wellness education that help young people reconnect with their identity, build confidence, and thrive.
Each year, AYDEPI directly engages over 500 youth through in-person programs and reaches thousands more through community events and outreach. Our signature events—such as the Beauty of Our African Roots annual celebration, youth sports and wellness activities, and youth environmental activism initiatives—create safe, joyful spaces where young people express themselves, celebrate culture, and build meaningful connections. These experiences are more than events—they are pathways to belonging and leadership.
Our impact is reflected in the growth we see every day, youth who feel seen and valued, who stay engaged in school, and who step into leadership roles within their communities. Many of our participants go on to mentor others, creating a powerful cycle of peer leadership and community empowerment.
We work in partnership with local schools, community organizations, and youth-serving agencies to expand access and ensure our programs remain responsive to community needs. By centering youth voice and leadership in everything we do, AYDEPI is building a generation of resilient, empowered young leaders who are shaping stronger, more connected communities across Washington State.
Supporting AYDEPI is supporting the future. Invest in youth. Invest in community. Support AYDEPI today.
