$3,600 Goal

Founded in 1985, ADEFUA empowers Black, BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, and historically displaced communities in Rainier Valley while providing a broad public benefit to Seattle. Through authentic African cultural arts, we affirm identity, facilitate community healing, and strengthen intergenerational connections.

Our approach is informed by a desire to transform and engage youth through cultural arts experiences. Guided by lived experience and the cultural values of hospitality, generosity, inclusion, and respect, our community of teaching artists believes in a communal way of life and lives by the adage: “it takes a village.”

We envision a thriving Rainier Valley anchored by an affordable, healing, accessible space where multicultural expression drives economic and creative vitality.

By employing the artists who live here, teaching the youth who grow here, and building the center that stays here, ADEFUA ensures that the culture is the primary defense against displacement in the Rainier Valley.

Thank you so much for your support of our community and of vibrant African arts and cultural education in Seattle.

With gratitude,

Team ADEFUA
