GiveBIG 2026

Consistent, reliable, and stable staffing is crucial for maintaining client health and safety and building relationships that allow clients to not only survive, but to thrive. Clients are more willing to try new things outside of their comfort zone when they have a close relationship with the person providing support. This is key to the major growth our clients experience! Also, when something changes with our clients who have fragile health conditions, staff who have worked with them for a long time are quick to notice a subtle difference and alert their care team. This keeps everyone safe, happy, and healthy!

The state contract we have for each client covers the basics but is not enough to support clients to the standard we have always held.  The contract covers an average of $25 an hour per client, but everything that goes into supporting one client costs an average of $27 an hour. We need your help to cover this difference. Your $48 donation will bridge the gap and ensure a client receives quality care for one day.

Clients appreciate that we prioritize excellent benefits and a living wage because their staff can prioritize providing high-quality services and develop a long-term career with us. Our starting wage for Independent Living Advocates who work directly with clients is well above average at $26.20. Losing staff and short-term employment is a major issue in this field. The turnover rate across the field is 37%, but Banchero boasts a stellar 12% turnover rate. This proves that this model really works!

Stephanie is one client who loves the close relationships your support enables her to develop with her staff. She appreciates the push that they have given her to learn many skills that she uses to live independently because she has trust in them to help when she needs it. Her mom, Kathy, said, “before coming here, it was people taking care of Stephanie and now they truly are just supporting her to take care of herself. But there’s also that safety net that they’re providing for her, that with all that autonomy, they’re still right there underneath her to catch her if there’s a problem.” Check out this video to hear directly from Stephanie, her family, and her staff about the close relationships they have built.

These relationships have been so transformative for Stephanie and so many others.  We need your help to provide this life-changing support for each and every client in our care. Your $48 donation will provide a client with high-quality staff support for one day. The difference in the state contract and the actual cost of providing this care is $17,520. Will you help us raise $8760 to make up half of that difference this GiveBIG?
