What if it could be a place where people feel seen, connected, and a little more brave? From that spark, Drama Dock was born.

Fifty seasons later, that same spirit still guides everything we do.

At Drama Dock, stories are not distant—they are shared across generations. A retired teacher sits beside a teenager experiencing live theater for the first time. A longtime islander laughs with a newcomer over a line that feels uncannily personal. On our stage, characters wrestle with identity, love, loss, and belonging—and in the audience, something shifts. Conversations begin. Perspectives widen. Community deepens.

This year, as we present the Northwest premiere of anthropology by Lauren Gunderson, we’re leaning into what we do best: bringing bold, contemporary work to our island in a way that feels intimate and immediate. It’s a story about connection in an increasingly disconnected world—something we all recognize. And like so many Drama Dock productions, it’s not just about what happens onstage, but what happens afterward: in the lobby, on the ferry ride home, around kitchen tables.
