This is my mom when she was just a little kid. Sadly, I wasn't much older when she died.

My mom, Sally Asher, dealt with deep depression for most of her adult life. Regrettably, the mental health care she received didn't give her the help she needed, and so she took her own life when I was 9 years old.

As it turned out, I didn't get the help I needed either. If there was such a thing as bereavement support for kids, no one in my family knew about it. So, it wasn't until I was a young adult that I took matters into my own hands and got the therapy I needed.

Going through all that is why I've devoted my time and money over the years to make sure the help I didn't get is available for those who do. This is what brought me to join the board of The Healing Center to do my part to see that the grief support groups we offer can reach even more kids, surviving spouses, young adults, siblings, friends or truly anyone who has lost someone dear to them.

The Healing Center's groups are totally free to anyone who can benefit from them. And so that's exactly what your donation will support.

I hope you will join me in getting behind the good work of The Healing Center so it will be there for anyone who needs it — especially if that someone is you.
