Nana and Sandal are new to our rescue and brought along with them some baggage in the form of medical needs. We are asking for donations to ensure these sweet girls get the care they need.
Nana is a sweet, friendly "fun-sized" Husky who on the surface looks hale and hardy. Looks can be deceiving, though. Nana went through a procedure to have a mammary mass removed and it turned out to be cancer. While the surgery was deemed a success, Nana's cancer had spread and she doesn't have a great prognosis - the typical one-year survival rate for dogs with her condition is 27%. We are hoping to keep her comfortable and happy in the time she has left with us.
Sandal's story looks like it will have a happier ending, but she has a journey ahead. She was found in very poor shape in Basin City, clearly having had at least one litter of puppies. She seemed to be suffering, so off to the vet she went, where she was found to have mastitis, a UTI, and a couple of other issues that added to her misery. She's slowly healing, but will need ongoing care to get her back to full health.
We regularly take in animals that have pretty major medical needs, from porcupine quill injuries and car-related injuries to more typical parasites, skin issues, and ear mites. Any funds collected above and beyond our goal will help future pets in need.
