Nimiipuu Protecting the Environment

A nonprofit organization

We exist to carry on time-honored sustainable environmental practices in the tradition of the Nimiipuu by facilitating and organizing individuals in group activities for the protection, enhancement, and promotion of mother earth.

We have regular activities every week with 30 4th and 5th graders from the Lapwai Elementary After School program where they learn about the Nez Perce (Nimiipuu) culture, history and traditional arts and crafts, canoe and paddle carving, beadwork, feather work and other crafts. We have tribal elders come and talk to them about the tribe. We hold Tribal Environmental Summits where we have speakers and presenters from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and throughout Indian Country where we go over current environmental issues

Testimonials

One of the greatest rewards I have is in the Nimiipuu Canoe project after school program where we have our outdoor site where the youth can do tribal related actvities.
