OUR MISSION

The Washington Women’s Foundation (WaWF) provides long-term unrestricted capital, organizational support, and networking to social change efforts supporting women and girls in Washington State.

WHO WE ARE

We are a nonprofit, collective giving member-driven organization of women from diverse backgrounds who have come together to pool our resources for greater impact. As Washington State’s only foundation focused solely on women and girls, our lived experience and wisdom uniquely equip us to uplift and invest in their power and potential.

WaWF has given more than $23 million to Washington state nonprofits during our 30-year tenure and in the next decade, we will drive meaningful change for women and girls through innovative grant making and nonprofit support.

WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER!

By giving to Washington Women's Foundation, you make it possible for us to give more to those who are the most effective and working closest to challenges women and girls face in Washington state.

We are experts at this! Take a look at our most recent funding cycle see the Custom Tab.

You also provide support beyond the check to nonprofits! Our members further support our grantees through a dedicated year-around grantee committee where we match nonprofit needs with member skills. From fundraising advice to board development to planning special events to building a budget, our members lend their collective wisdom to expand and strengthen the entire ecosystem of support for women and girls.

CHALLENGES WE FACE

Our work is particularly timely and critical in Washington. In the 2024 biennial report from the Washington State Women’s Commission and from Status of Women:

    • Washington State has the 6th largest gender wage gap in the nation.
    • Women of color in Washington earn as little as 45 cents for every dollar made by a white, non-Hispanic man.
    • Washington State ranks as the 11th least affordable state for childcare.
    • Washington State ranks 22nd nationally for the share of women in poverty, despite having the 3rd highest state GDP per capita.
    • 88% of Washington women have faced discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
