Mission

Vashon Partners in Education's mission is simple: to leverage the efforts of committed teachers by funding grants to improve the classroom experience. PIE finances grants to teachers, staff and student groups for activities and materials that will enhance the learning environment in Vashon's public schools.

Description

Vashon Partners in Education is an all-volunteer organization whose goal is to enhance the learning environment in Vashon's public schools.  For almost 40 years, PIE has engaged in annual fundraising in the Vashon community. Each Fall, PIE invites Vashon Public School District teachers, as well as staff, students and community members, to submit grant proposals for specific needs and opportunities not addressed in the district budget. The PIE Board evaluates those requests on educational value, innovation, need and impact. Proposals are evaluated in the late Fall, and grant money is distributed and used in that school year. Since 1987, PIE has raised over $1.7 million and funded nearly 1,500 grants!  

If you have a student who is attending or attended Vashon schools, they most likely have benefited from a PIE grant -- robotics equipment, science materials, musical instruments, PE equipment, art supplies, field trips, student clubs, library books, assemblies and performances, and much, much more! Many of your children's favorite experiences at school have been funded by a PIE grant!
