The Crisis: The Invisible 39%
In Washington State, up to 39% of newly unhoused families live entirely off-grid in deep-canopy, "Level 4" terrain. Hidden beneath dense tree coverage, traditional census tracts and standard outreach methods completely miss them. You cannot execute effective public health interventions, deliver emergency services, or provide housing support to a population you cannot locate. Right now, thousands of our neighbors are entirely invisible to the social safety net.
Our Solution: Project G-GRID
Unhoused Awareness is a deep-tech 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to solving humanitarian blind spots. We built Project G-GRID: a zero-emission, autonomous-grade mapping fleet designed specifically for extreme-environment data collection in the Pacific Northwest.
Using a fully electric vehicle with advanced LiDAR and thermal imaging technology, our fleet can respectfully and quietly map off-grid encampments without disturbing vulnerable populations or producing toxic exhaust. We create precise, sub-centimeter 3D digital twins of these invisible communities, providing critical spatial data to public health institutions, search and rescue teams, and regional stakeholders.
Why Your GiveBIG Donation Matters
Because we believe so strongly in the urgency of this mission, our executive and engineering teams operate 100% pro-bono. We have zero overhead bleed.
When you donate to Unhoused Awareness during Washington Gives, every single dollar goes directly into tangible, life-saving hardware. Your contribution will specifically help us fund:
Critical Hardware: Advanced edge-compute modules to process 3D maps in zero-connectivity environments.
Fleet Operations: Keeping our zero-emission mapping vehicle on the road.
Data Delivery: Getting accurate, real-time spatial data into the hands of first responders and housing advocates.
Technology alone cannot solve the housing crisis, but it can ensure that no one is left off the map. This GiveBIG, help us make the invisible, visible.
