Gray Muzzle Project

The Gray Muzzle Project is a grass roots  dog sanctuary based in Chimacum, Washington with a mission to provide forever homes and hospice veterinary care to senior dogs with special needs.  The organization works directly with local and regional animal welfare groups- shelters and rescues, to offer a long-term solution for seniors with nowhere else to go. 

Founded in 2024, and opened in 2025, the Gray Muzzle Project has rescued 7 special seniors.  Sanctuary residents navigate medical concerns including arthritis, liver disease, cancer, and chronic respiratory issues, and are supported with integrative hospice care from our onsite veterinarian, Dr. Jamie Walkush.  

In the coming years the Gray Muzzle Project hopes to expand its impact to additional dogs, increase its medical offerings, and continue developing their sanctuary facilities- to ensure seniors have a safe place to call home.
