Give Big to PT Education Foundation

Port Townsend Education Foundation raises money to support memorable and impactful learning experiences for our local school children. This year we have fallen short of our regular fundraising goals and really need to raise more money to even partly meet the requests from the teachers. We know that these projects have a big positive impact on our local students education. We also know that the schools have significant budget cuts from the government and we will be asked to fill some of those gaps. So please support local educational opportunities!! 

Each year PTEF filters grant requests from teachers in the Port Townsend School District to fund creative and innovative projects in and out of the classroom that are not covered within the school budget. The 2025-2026 school year requests from teachers totaled $60,540 from the four schools. Our funds available limited us to supporting only $36,000 for projects. Many worthy and inspiring projects went unfunded or partially funded. This year especially we need to raise more funds to support inspiring education for our local children.

Some examples of programs that we have supported consistently include: 

• Cedar Root Experience provides students with wilderness survival experience in local forests & ecosystems, expanding their knowledge base and then integrating it by writing essays and stories. 

• Books for the school libraries, with a different theme each year

• Various robotics projects including LEGO SPIKE, submersibles, Rover controls & circuitry
