Mission

To inspire stewardship for the Puget Sound, and greater Salish Sea, by providing equitable learning opportunities about the environment to our local community and beyond. Our motto is: Learn. Have Fun.

Description

Harbor WildWatch is an environmental education organization that offers free or low-cost learning activities to connect kids, adults, and families to the local environment. The knowledge gained from our programs energizes participants about science and encourages consideration of the marine habitat when making stewardship choices.
Our unique programs include guided beach, estuary and wetland walks; classroom and field STEM workshops; community science monitoring events; naturalist training opportunities, and paid college internships. We also operate a visitor and interpretive center in Downtown Gig Harbor featuring an exhibit on Sharks of the Salish Sea plus 130 gallons of marine touch-tanks and aquaria. Each year, we deliver hundreds of hands-on programs to 30,000+ individuals living and visiting the South Puget Sound region of Washington State. This work has received award recognition as the Stewardship Partner of the Year from Pierce Conservation District, Non-Profit of the Year from the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Partner of the Year from the Downtown Waterfront Alliance, and Gig Harbor Living Local's Finest Philanthropic Organization.
