Comunidad works alongside our Latino community to create culturally rooted, community-led solutions that improve quality of life—not just for Latinos, but for our entire region. We are proudly Latino-led and deeply connected to the diverse cultures within our community: Dominican, Puerto Rican, Argentinian, Mexican, and more. Our work is grounded in resilience, cultural pride, and collective strength.

We begin by listening—because the most meaningful and lasting solutions come from those closest to the challenges. Each year, Comunidad connects with more than 1,000 community members across rural and urban King County and Pierce County. These conversations happen everywhere: at kitchen tables, job sites, community gatherings, and late-night shift changes. What we hear shapes everything we do.

Through this process, community members share both the barriers they face—like housing instability, low wages, environmental challenges, and limited access to decision-making—and the solutions they envision. These solutions are rooted in lived experience, cultural knowledge, and a shared commitment to building something better.

From those conversations, we build.

This GiveBIG, Comunidad is raising $5,000 to support youth leadership and organizing through the Sí Se Puede Festival—a dynamic, hands-on event that brings young people together to build skills, confidence, and connection.

The festival is designed as a launch point for ongoing leadership. Using a hands on approach, youth participate in interactive workshops, cultural expression, and real-world learning experiences that connect their personal stories to larger systems. Activities include a “good jobs” obstacle course highlighting barriers to employment, and creative storytelling like corrido(traditional mexican storytelling song)-writing focused on environmental justice and the legacy of the ASARCO smelter site.

At its core, the festival centers youth voices—especially young Latinas—and creates pathways into continued leadership, advocacy, and community organizing.

Opening remarks by Dolores Huerta, along with a pre-event leadership luncheon, will connect youth with experienced organizers and decision-makers, fostering intergenerational collaboration and shared accountability.

Each year, we train more than 300 youth leaders—primarily Latino, alongside African American, Samoan, African, and white youth—through hands-on organizing and leadership development across more than 100 schools.

We address the systems that shape opportunity, including economic and environmental conditions.

Our programs bring people together across generations and backgrounds to strengthen relationships and collective action.

A track record of impact
Comunidad has incubated 40 rural Latino-owned businesses, supported 13 legacy businesses, hosted seven Latino markets with more than 15,000 attendees, and co-created 38 youth internships centered on leadership and cultural pride.
