Description

The Junior League of Seattle (JLS) is a 102-year-old non-profit organization, founded in 1923. JLS a network of empowered female civic leaders working with community partners to address and solve pressing issues like access to Arts Education. Annually our members donate 30,000+ volunteer hours and participate in thousands of hours of personal and professional development.

For more than 65 years, JLS has had the honor of bringing visual art learning directly to classrooms across King County through The Northwest Art Project. The Northwest Art Project has toured schools in the greater Seattle area, exposing thousands of children to original works by some of the region’s most prominent artists. This unique program enables students and teachers to experience an art museum in their own school. Children are able to discover outstanding art, explore a wide range of media in a school setting, and gain key creativity and critical thinking skills.

Throughout its 100+ year history, JLS has successfully met the emerging needs of the community by initiating cutting edge programs and providing trained volunteers to manage and direct service projects, community education, fundraising, and advocacy efforts. As a result of League training, JLS has also provided a legacy of leaders who bring knowledge and experience to the community in which they serve.
